Yulia Zhu
Managing the hotel beverage department as the head sommelier at The Langham in Shanghai, Yulia Zhu, is a passionate sommelier and has been in the wine field since 4 years. She is a certified sommelier by the Court of Master Sommelier. Previously she has worked at the Calypso Restaurant & Lounge as a senior sommelier where she designed two reasonable beverage-list including 100 wines for restaurant and 40 wines for lounge. She holds a Bachelor degree in Viniculture and Enology from Northwest A&F University.
Yulia’s professional achievements include, but not limited to:
- 2017 China’s Best Sommelier Competition Top 10
- Court of Master Sommelier Certified sommelier Pass
- Wine & Spirit Education Trust(WSET) Level 4 Diploma Studying
- Wine & Spirit Education Trust(WSET) Level 3 Pass with Merit
- Australia Wine Trade Specialist (Sommelier) in China
- Certificate for wine tasting, CIVB Bordeaux
She has undertaken courses like Wine Tasting, Modern Enology, Wine Marketing, and Business Negotiation
Her previous experiences includes managing wine cellar and month-end inventory, designing and changing wine list, setting price for new wine, choosing suitable wine for the guest at reasonable price, designing wine pairing menu and wine dinner. Currently she is studying for WSET Level 4.

The China Wine Competition boasts of having the most highly qualified and trained panel of wine buyers and wine experts who are based in mainland China.
As the mission and philosophy of the China Wine Competition is to award wines by quality, value and package for the China market, all our judges are from mainland China who understands the Chinese palate.
The goal, quite simply, is to gain cross-industry recognition for wines that Chinese consumers actually want to drink.
