China Wine Competition Introduces an Exclusive On-Trade Buyer Intelligence Report for Entrants
Get more than a medal. Learn what the wine professionals shaping China’s restaurant and hospitality market want to buy, list, and pour.
Every entrant in the 2026 China Wine Competition will receive access to an exclusive China On-Trade Buyer Intelligence Report. The report will bring together insights from the competition’s judging panel to help wineries understand the opportunities and buying considerations in China’s on-trade wine market.
Insight From the People Who Select Wines
The China Wine Competition’s judges include wine buyers, distributors, sommeliers and hospitality professionals with experience selecting and selling wine across China and Hong Kong. Alongside evaluating the entries, judges will share their market perspectives through a confidential survey.
Their responses will be brought together in a report for entrants. Individual survey responses will remain confidential; the report will present the broader trends and practical insights that emerge from the panel.
What the Report Will Cover
The report is designed to help producers make better decisions about their wines and their approach to the market. Topics will include:
- The styles, regions and categories attracting buyer interest
- What buyers consider when selecting wines for restaurant and hotel lists
- Price points and value expectations
- By-the-glass and by-the-bottle opportunities
- The role of food pairing in wine selection
- Packaging and presentation considerations
- Common barriers international wineries face when pitching to buyers
These insights can help wineries assess where their wines may fit, refine their sales pitch, and have more informed conversations with importers, distributors, and hospitality buyers.

More Than a Competition Result
Every entered wine will also be evaluated for food pairability, typicity, quality, value and packaging. Entrants receive a detailed score breakdown and constructive feedback, including guidance on how to improve, market and sell their wine.
Together, the individual wine feedback and the Buyer Intelligence Report give producers two useful perspectives: how their own wine performed and what professionals in the market are looking for.
Entries for the 2026 China Wine Competition are open. Registration closes October 14, 2026, and judging takes place November 10, 2026, in Hong Kong.
